The Counseling Department will support the student learning process and promote academic and social achievement. Counselors will respond to the developmental needs of their students in the area of personal/social growth, academic performance and post-secondary education. Counselors will work closely with faculty/staff, families, community partners, and support services to promote student success.

College and Career coaches are available to assist students with any college or career preparations. To schedule an appointment visit 110 for more information or drop in the Post Secondary Lab, room 315, on Mondays, Tuesday, and Thursdays from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m to work on your career research and applications.
Post Secondary Lab
Room 315 is open after school from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday to work on career plans. Receive help with college applications, college search, scholarships, FAFSA, internships, pre-college programs, and other topics related to life after high school.

Scholarships get you more money for college, and enrichment opportunities build your resume so that you are competitive against the people applying for the same college seats and jobs that you are. Gear Up at Foreman High School
Together with Foreman College and Career Academy, GEAR UP is dedicated to making college a reality for students and their families.
For more than a decade, GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) has worked to increase the number of first-generation students who are college ready. The work of the GEAR UP program at Foreman High School (FHS) is to supports student achievement and collaborates with the FHS Counseling Team to prepare them to apply, enroll, and graduate from college. GEAR UP students have been preparing for college since the 6th grade and their families have been involved in the process, making them ready to handle the transition to college.
GEAR UP is a federally funded program that helps prepare all the students in the Class of 2017 and 2018 for college through academic preparation, tutoring, and workshops; leadership training for parents and professional development activities for educators. We offer college access based programs for students and parents which increases high school graduation rates and makes college real.
The Columbia College Chicago Upward Bound program is a federally funded, college prep program for low-income, first generation students. The program provides a comprehensive set of college prep services that includes tutoring, Saturday enrichment classes, a six-week summer program, field trips, college visits, ACT test prep, career exploration and assistance with college, scholarship and financial aid applications.
